The original PlayStation had the capacity to play music CDs through the television and many reviewers at the time praised the audio quality, comparing it to expensive high-end CD players that were available at the time. The PlayStation 2 had an amazing library, but Sony sweetened the deal and made the console a must-have purchase, thanks to a trick it learned during the original PlayStation generation. The PlayStation 2 birthed some awesome PlayStation franchises, including God of War, Jak and Daxter, and Ratchet & Clank. This was also the system that had the bizarre classic that is Metal Gear Solid II: Sons of Liberty and was one of the first consoles to be graced by the incredible Resident Evil 4. In short, the PlayStation 2 has a library that is still beloved by people all around the world. The PlayStation 2 also saw the release of the first Kingdom Hearts and the excellent localization of Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King. Squaresoft/Square Enix were staunch supporters of the PlayStation 2 during this era, which led to the release of Final Fantasy X, which was one of the few games in the series that has matched Final Fantasy VII in terms of popularity. Grand Theft Auto III would eventually lead to the creation of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, which became the best-selling game on the system.
